Alex understands that these can be some of the most difficult and stressful times in a person’s life and enjoys the rewarding experience in helping people work through these problems. As a native of Northern Virginia, he works hard to help his clients avoid the significant financial and emotional costs to families of going through divorce in utilizing the collaborative divorce process. As a principal of Roop, Xanttopoulos, Babounakis, Alex practices all aspects of domestic relations litigation including divorce, complex custody matters, support, equitable distribution including complicated business assets as well as premarital agreements. Alex utilizes strong negotiation, certified collaborative divorce training, and mediation to attempt an efficient and favorable out of Court resolution for his clients; he deploys impressive tactical courtroom skills when an out of Court resolution is not in their best interest. He has been recognized individually as one of the Best Lawyers in America by US News and World Report, has been rated “AV Preeminent” from Martindale-Hubbell (its highest rating for skill and ethics), Super Lawyers Rising Stars, Ten Leaders Top Attorney’s Under 45 and has been featured as a Top Lawyer for Divorce and Family Law by Washingtonian Magazine.
