Susan Muhoro is a co-owner of Wishing You Well Counseling Center. She graduated from Liberty Baptist College in 1985 with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in sociology and youth ministries. In 1997 she received her Master’s in counseling from Lynchburg College. Susan became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2004. She worked and volunteered in the mental health field for over 15 years. Her experience is varied and includes working in a residential facility for children and adolescents, providing services to families in crises, facilitating groups focused on parenting, collaborative divorce, grief and loss, sexual trauma, life skills, and self-esteem. Susan received specialized training in play therapy in 2004 and 2005. She completed training in 2007 at the Mary D. Ainsworth Child-Parent Attachment Clinic learning how to identify attachment styles and interventions. In 2009 she participated in training for collaborative divorce and mediation. Susan is committed to promoting cultural diversity in both her professional and personal life. Susan was born and raised in rural Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia after attending Liberty. She is one of six children and has a sister who is mentally and physically challenged. Susan has been married for 24 years and has two children. She enjoys family time, children’s ministry, reading, movies, and watching professional football—GO STEELERS!! Susan’s approach to treatment is reality based. She believes life’s path offers choices. Frost said, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” Sometimes we travel the easier path thinking it will be less painful, but by taking the path less traveled, although it may be more difficult, we find purpose, peace and strength. This in turn makes us all the stronger for our next journey.
