Jennifer was born in Connecticut, but grew up in Downingtown PA, a busy suburb of Philadelphia. After graduating from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Business- Jennifer moved to Richmond in 1992. She plans to stay in the Richmond area at least until she retires 20 years from now! Jennifer is married and a Stepmother to two College boys, Ben & Matt. A lifelong animal lover, she provides a caring home to a Golden Retriever named Journey, a short haired cat named Zoe, and two horses: Waffle & Mallow. Over the past 25 years, Jennifer has held a variety of roles at financial services firms both large and small. Following family into banking, she served as a Trust Officer for a regional institution. Later she was recruited by a mentor to a boutique money-management firm and joined a portfolio management team specializing in municipal bonds. Wanting a more comprehensive view of personal finance than just investments, Jennifer teamed with her business partner, Peter Walls in 2005. Their practice specializes in four niche client categories...one being helping to educate & empower women enduring divorce to enable them to take control of their new financial worlds. As a result of Jennifer's dedication to taking care of women newly in charge of their finances over many years, she was just honored with the 2023 RVA Power Woman Award in Finance (due to nominations from many clients & professionals). Jennifer is a passionate equestrian and member of Deep Run Hunt Club in Goochland County. She is the proud owner of a Palomino horse and competes with him in Eventing competitions from Maryland to South Carolina. Jennifer is avid about fitness and trains regularly at Orange Theory. Jennifer is an active member of the Financial Planning Association of Central Virginia, Collaborative Professionals of Richmond & Impact 100. Additionally, she serves on the Kinloch Neighborhood Home Owners Association Board. Jennifer serves as the Director of Wealth Management for her practice. Says Jennifer, “I spend time helping our clients create a vision of their ideal future. We then set goals and I develop a plan, or road map, to get them there. Just like any trip there are bound to be some bumps and detours along the way: Sometimes adjustments need to be made. That’s OK; I’m here to help with those eventualities and get us back on-track. Through the planning process clients repeatedly tell me they feel happier and more confident about their future. ‘I wish I had done this sooner!’ is a common refrain. "My greatest joy comes from counseling and educating my divorced, female clients who are now realizing the dreams I helped them plan for years prior such as: living comfortably within their new asset/income levels; being able to send their children to college; meeting their retirement savings or spending goals – these are the types of conversations that make my job so rewarding.”
